Statement of intent

Elevated Thoughts

My intention is to show a body of work which goes beyond recording images of contemporary dancers. My aim is to show a set of images which capture the grace, beauty and movement associated with contemporary dance; at the same time giving testament to the skills and energies which are so essential for performing at the highest level.

I had the good fortune to work with a number of talented and dedicated dance professionals whose collaboration and attention to detail supported me in the creation of these images. It is of primary importance to me that through my pictures I am able to demonstrate the skills, athleticism and generally capture the physicality of their dance.

To create each of these images the dancers and I went beyond simply capturing their work and collaborated, developing a joint approach, a common bond which I refer to as ‘elevated thoughts’.
